Nam has many cool mountain villages including Sapa and Dalat; clean and
unspoiled beaches can be found the length of the country.
Overall looking, Vietnam
is shaped like an immense elongated S lying in the centre of Southeast
Asia. Stretching the length of the Indochina Peninsula, Vietnam borders
on China to the North, Laos and Cambodia to the west and the East Sea
and Pacific Ocean to the East and the South, with the coastline of 3,260
kilometers long. The country ’s total surface area is 330,991 square
kilometers, mountains and forests occupy three-quarters of the total
land through which interspersed the terraced plateaus of limestone and
basaltic soil which is good for the growth of industrial crops.
There are hundreds of historical and cultural sites including the Hung
Temple, Co Loa, the Temple of Literature in Ha Noi, My Son Sanctuary,
the ancient city of Hoi An,and the Citadel at Hue. Thousands of pagodas,
temples, and churches can be found throughout the country.Vietnamese cities and villages take pride in their architectural jewels
of traditional and colonial design. Finally, it is very interesting to
observe the distinctive traditions of the various ethnic groups that
comprise our wonderful country.
Vietnam consists of more
than 1,000 large and small rivers, flowing mainly in the directions of
northwest and southeast. Of which the Mekong (Cuu Long) River in the
South and the Red River in the North are the most important ones. Over
the centuries, built up by the Red and Mekong Rivers’ alluvial
deposits, in the North and the South formed two immense low-lying
alluvial plains known as the Red River Delta and the
Mekong Delta.
Connecting between these two vast deltas is a narrow strip of seaside
plains, running North through South, which looks like a bamboo shoulder
pole weighed down by the two enormous baskets of rice at both ends.
Thanks to its long coastline, crisscrossed network of river arms and
dominant part of mountains and hills, Vietnam has numerous natural
beauties and wonders to offer to tourists.
Vietnam is situated in the tropical area
in which climate varies from region to region. The North has four
seasons with a cooler winter, while the Central Part and the South, due
to the influence of monsoon, has only rainy and dry seasons.Rainy
season is from May to November, usually with short showers everyday, and
the average rainfall is from 1,500 to 2,000 mm. Dry season is from late
November to April the next year, the number of sunny hours is from 1,500
to 2,000 hours per year. Some high mountainous regions like Dalat and
Sapa have a temperate climate.The
country’s average annual temperature is from 22 to 27 degrees
Centigrade. Humidity varies from 80% to 100%. This provides a very good
condition for the growth of tropical and mangrove forests. Tourists can
visit Vietnam all year round without any climate trouble.
