Area information The fascinating mountain landscape around Zermatt with its 36 summits above 4,000 metres offers visitors countless options for sports and leisure activities in summer as well as in winter. Zermatt is a classic mountaineering village and offers a wide range of mountain and ski tours led by expert mountain guides, as well as many signposted hiking trails. Indoor sports: - fitness exercises at the Matterhorn gym - public indoor pool at the Hotel Christiana - squash at the Hotel Alex - indoor tennis at the Hotels Alex and Alpen Resort - skittles at the Hotel Bristol Train excursions into the mountains: - Alpine metro to Sunnegga - Cog railway to the Gornergrat, cable car to the Rote Nase and the Stockhorn - Cable cars to the Klein-Matterhorn area In the air: Sightseeing flights around the Matterhorn, helicopter skiing, helicopter taxi service to nearby towns, paragliding. Winter: Zermatt offers 150 km of groomed slopes in 3 main ski areas, 2 signposted cross-country ski runs (7 km), 30 km of signposted winter hiking trails and an ice rink. Ski and snowboarding schools are available. Winter fun sports include sledge dog tours, snow volleyball and winter golf. Summer: Summer sports include mountain biking, tennis, hiking, mountaineering, summer skiing and golf (9-hole course in Täsch). Travel information Zermatt is a car free resort. Access for private transport is only allowed as far as Täsch (5km from Zermatt). The road from Täsch to Zermatt is not open to public transport. There are open air public car parks (1,800 spaces) and covered private car parks (1,300 spaces) in Täsch. The covered car parks also have outside parking spaces and operate a taxi service to and from Zermatt. Shuttle trains operated by the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway run every 20 minutes. There are direct train connections in Brig and Visp to the modern Matterhorn Gotthard railway, which arrive in Zermatt after a 90 minute journey through the romantic, rugged Vispa Valley.

All children are welcome. All children under 5 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
