In the heart of the beautiful Lake District, valued throughout, between Windermere and Bowness, this traditional Lakeland guest house offers a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation and a hearty breakfast. There are 4 rooms in the main house and a garden room in the courtyard. Small and friendly, and above all, the guest house has just 5 rooms, guaranteeing guests personalised service and a warm welcome. A full traditional cooked breakfast is included in the price and is freshly cooked to order. All of the rooms have en suite shower facilities, valued throughout, plenty of storage space, well-stocked hospitality trays, TVs, radio alarms and hairdryers. The Invergarry is open all year round, highly regarded, with special rates over the autumn and winter periods. Free parking is available for guests. There are local walks from the front door and Windermere golf course is just a short drive away.

Food & Beverages

A full English breakfast is included in the price and is served between 08:00 and 09:15. Breakfasts are cooked to order and are made using fresh, local produce, including bacon and sausages from an award-winning butcher, Huddlestons in Windermere. The eggs used are from Bannerigg Farm in Windermere. Guests can help themselves to fruit, fruit juice, cereals, jams, marmalades and yoghurts. Before ordering tea or coffee and their choice of the hot items available on the menu.

Area information

Invergarry is situated just off Lake Road, 10 minutes’ walk from Windermere and 10 minutes’ walk from Bowness and Lake Windermere, where the steamers offer trips round the lake. The great location makes the guest house a good base from which to explore the lakes and fells of the Lake District National Park. There is plenty to see and do nearby, including steam railways, museums, the Beatrix Potter attraction, the story of Donald Campbell and much more. Invergarry is about 15 minutes’ walk from Windermere Railway Station and there is also a bus stop directly outside the guest house. During the summer months, the open-top Lakes Rider bus service picks up from this stop on its way to Ambleside and Grasmere. There are connecting bus services at Windermere to Keswick, Kendal and Lancaster. There are some great walks right outside the guest house’s front door and the Invergarry offers its own local walk books, which will take you to some fabulous viewpoints, one of which is Orrest Head. This is the walk that inspired Alfred Wainwright to compile his well-known guides. On a clear day, you can see almost the full length of Lake Windermere, as well as the distant Fells. The walks range from 2 miles (3.2 km) to 6 miles (10 km).

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, the first night will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

100 percent of the first night will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

15 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

Children cannot be accommodated at the hotel.  There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.
