Each room features attractive crisp cotton bed linen, warm, luxurious duvets and en suite bathrooms. Hotel details

Built in 1890, the house boasts many beautiful original Victorian features, including ornate stone window frames and a geometrically tiled hallway. Ever evolving, the house blends traditional style and charm with contemporary influences to create a relaxed, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Relax in the stylishly refurbished lounge and enjoy a morning coffee, afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap. In the summertime, you can enjoy the fresh air and the sunshine in the peaceful private garden. With beautiful original features, traditional charm, contemporary style and modern comforts and facilities, the Hideaway At Windermere is a great base, whether you are exploring the region’s spectacular scenery on foot or simply enjoying a peaceful relaxing break.

Food & Beverages

Breakfast is a leisurely affair with traditional full English breakfasts cooked to order and served hot. You can also help yourself to the buffet, which features fresh fruit and fruit juices, yoghurts and cereals. Breakfast is accompanied by plenty of fresh tea, coffee and toast. The restaurant is also open to non-residents and provides stylish dining in an informal atmosphere. Two light and airy rooms, both overlooking the peaceful garden, create an intimate ambience in which to relax and enjoy your food. Attentive, yet relaxed service awaits, provided by the friendly professional team. Richard heads up the kitchen team himself. Working with a hands-on approach and an uncomplicated cooking style, he believes in serving the very best, simple food, allowing the delicious natural flavours to speak for themselves. With the use of fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, the menu is a mix of traditional local dishes, modern British food, and just a hint of global influences. Whatever the dish, Richard's aim is to present delicious food with a creative twist. The well-stocked bar offers a selection of bottled beers and local bitters amongst other drinks. The wine list is interesting and varied and is certain to meet all tastes. Please note the restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday inclusive. Tables cannot be guaranteed for residents.

Restaurant reservations cannot be guaranteed for guests. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The Hideaway At Windermere operates a strict non-smoking policy in all rooms, bathrooms and public areas. If evidence of smoking is found, you will be asked to vacate your room immediately and a minimum charge of GBP 200 will be issued on or after your departure. The payment will be taken immediately on the card details you used to make the booking to cover all additional cleaning and dry cleaning costs. Bookings for 3 rooms or more cannot be accepted.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

The total price of the reservation will be charged on the day of booking and is refundable. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

15 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

Children cannot be accommodated at the hotel.  There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.
