By Car: From the south: - Take the M6. - Exit at junction 36. - Join the A590. - Join the A591 signposted to Kendal and Windermere. - The hotel is situated 2 miles north of Windermere village on the right-hand side of the road. From the north: - Take the M6. - Exit at junction 40. - Join the A66 towards Keswick. - Join the A591 to Ambleside. - The hotel is one mile south of Ambleside on the left-hand side of the road. Helicopter landing can be arranged on prior request.

Nearby attractions: - World of Beatrix Potter: in an undercover re-creation of the Lakeland landscape, the world famous stories of Beatrix Potter come to life. - Windermere Lake Cruises: daily trips throughout the year between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside with main season connections for the Steam Railway, Brockhole, Lakeside Aquarium and Fell Foot. - Blackwell - The Arts and Crafts House: designed by architect M H Baillie Scott as a holiday home for Sir Edward Holt, this house is of international importance, standing at the crossroads of Victorian design and modern architecture of the 20th century. - Dove Cottage: William Wordsworth's home from 1799-1808; and Rydal Mount & Gardens, his home from 1813-1850. - Hill Top and Beatrix Potter Gallery: where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous children’s stories. A little 17th-century house, it has been kept exactly as she left it, complete with her furniture and china. There is a traditional cottage garden attached.
