Area information

Just a few hours' drive from Vienna, Milan, Munich and Salzburg, Capella Schloss Velden is a favoured retreat of affluent travellers. The area is often referred to as the "Austrian Riviera" thanks to its location on the largest and warmest Alpine lake in Europe, offering water activities, fine dining and numerous entertainment options. The surrounding Carinthia region is ideal for year-round activities, such as horseback riding, golfing, mountain climbing, hiking and skiing.

Travel information

Vienna is 345 kilometres away (about a 3-hour drive), Ljubljana is 107 kilometres away (about 1 hour 20 minutes), and Klagenfurt Airport is 30 kilometres away (about 25 minutes). From Klagenfurt Airport: Take the motorway A2 in the direction of Villach, Italy, Slovenia for about 9 km. Follow the sign Villach - Pörtschach Ost and continue on the A2 for about 13 km. Leave the A2 at the exit Velden Ost. Take the B83, called Klagenfurterstraße, in the direction of Velden. Follow the B83 for 1.5 km. Leave the B83 at the Karawankenplatz. Take the second exit in the direction of Wörthersee. From the north/south: Take the motorway A10 in the direction of Slovenia (coming from the north) or in the direction of Salzburg (coming from the south). At Knoten Villach, change onto the A2 in the direction of Klagenfurt. Leave the A2 at the exit Velden Ost. Take the B83, called Klagenfurterstraße, in the direction of Velden. Follow the B83 for 1.5 km. Leave the B83 at the Karawankenplatz. Take the second exit in the direction of Wörthersee. From the west/east: Take the A2 in the direction of Klagenfurt (coming from the west) or in the direction of Villach (coming from the east). Leave the A2 at the exit Velden Ost. Take the B83, called Klagenfurterstraße, in the direction of Velden. Follow the B83 for 1.5 km. Leave the B83 at the Karawankenplatz. Take the second exit in the direction of Wörthersee.
