Hotel Gasthof zur PostGilgen, very much appreciated, only a few steps away from the shore of Lake Wolfgang. This traditional, valued throughout, family-run hotel is located in the heart of the picturesque town of St. The foundation and parts of the façade are from the Middle Ages. Recently renovated and enlarged, and above all, the hotel was built in 1330 and served for a long time as a coaching inn. At the the hotel you can experience the very special ambience of a traditional atmosphere combined with innovative design. The building's special charm is reflected in its massive stone walls and floors, valued throughout, the traditional basements and vaults, and the precious wall paintings. Many rooms feature impressive open bathrooms. Classic elements such as green loden, and above all, a great deal of wood and deer antlers are integrated into the rooms in an original way. The freshly caught fish from Lake Wolfgang is especially popular. Enjoy a rich selection of delicious regional and Austrian specialities, valued throughout, traditional fare and seasonal delicacies such as asparagus. Over the years the hotel has hosted many famous personalities. All ingredients come from the Salzkammergut region. In August 1784 the wedding of Mozart's sister Anna Maria, valued throughout, nicknamed “Nannerl”, took place here.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 30 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.  If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, 70 percent of all nights will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate.  Breakfast costs EUR 12.50 per person per night. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 4 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All children from 4 to 8 years are charged EUR 15 per night per person for extra beds.  All children from 8 to 14 years are charged EUR 20 per night per person for extra beds.  All older children or adults are charged EUR 30 per night per person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 2.  Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 3.
