Food & Beverages

The pleasant dining room offers good home cooking prepared from traditional Scottish ingredients, locally sourced where possible. The breakfast menu offers a wide range of dishes including vegetarian options to set up guests for a full day’s walking or touring in the Highlands.

The guest house will add an additional cost to all payments made by credit/debit card. If you plan to arrive outside of the stated check-in period, you must contact the guest house in advance.

Area information

In Spean Bridge see the famous Commando Memorial and nearby TV’s Monarch of the Glen country. Also convenient for: Nevis Range – UK’s only mountain gondola, ski centre and mountain biking trails Fort William –climb the UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis Glefinnan – see the viaduct from the Harry Potter films Inverness – Scotland’s newest city Skye – dramatic mountainous landscapes and romantic castles Mull – colourful Tobermoray (or better known as Balamory!) and whale watching Aviemore –hill climbing the easy way by funicular railway up Cairngorm mountain.

Travel information

By Car: From Fort William: - Head north on the A82 for approximately 8 miles. - Once you reach the village of Spean Bridge take the A86 junction on your right after you cross the River Spean. - The road signs will say Roy Bridge. - Distant Hills is 500 metres along this road on your right. There is also a train station on the main line from Glasgow to Fort William and the village is also very well served by buses from Glasgow, Inverness and Skye.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later, the total price of the reservation will be charged.  In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

15 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

Children older than 12 years are welcome.  All children or adults are charged 100 % of the room stay per night when using existing bedding.  There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.
