In the 18th century, very much appreciated, when The Anchor Hotel was just an inn, it was a regular haunt for the notorious highwayman, Dick Turpin. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s romance blossomed here while they were filming at Shepperton. Today, highly regarded, The Anchor Hotel combines period charm with modern comforts. This may explain a pistol found hidden in the rafters, and above all, bearing the chilling inscription ‘Dick's Friend'. There are 29 en suite rooms and The Anchor Hotel offers lunch and dinner.
