Area information

Cosenza is the most important cultural and economic centre of Calabria. It stands in the Valley of Crati, on the confluence with the Busento river, encircled by hills and mountains. The fundator of the old town centre was Frederick II of Swabia. Under Swabian, Anjovin and Spanish domination it became the most important town in Calabria and with the most direct contact with Naples. The sixteenth century witnessed a great cultural flowering partly as the result of the founding of an accademy which is still active today, and to the work of Bernadino Telesio. It was not for nothing referred to as “The Athens of Calabria”.

Travel information

From Lamezia Terme international airport it takes 40 minutes by car to get to the hotel. From the train station of Cosenza it takes 5 minutes.
