Area information

Inchree's convenient location makes it an excellent base for those touring the Scottish Western Highlands by car or those who are enjoying the region’s superb walking. The lodge is exactly midway between the Glencoe and the Ben Nevis mountain ranges, with each being around 7 miles (11 km) away. The mountain ranges are iconic and are also renowned areas for hill-walking or climbing. There are walks of all kinds to enjoy locally, ranging from short, low-level walks, to more strenuous, full-day mountain walks. Several picturesque forest, waterfall, hill and beach walks can be done directly from the accommodation. The Corran car ferry, which crosses Loch Linnhe, is just 500 metres from Inchree, and provides access to the beautiful Morven and Ardnamurchan Peninsulas. The ferry is also free to pedestrians and cyclists. The town of Fort William is just 7 miles (11 km) from Inchree, and offers everything you would expect of a popular tourism centre. With the lodge as a comfortable and relaxing base, you can also easily enjoy day trips to the Isles of Mull and Skye. The thriving town of Oban, with its picturesque harbour, is just a one-hour drive away. There are many castles, both ruined and restored in the local area, as well as many ancient monuments and historic sites which are open to the public to visit. Please note that your hosts are available to offer all guests the benefit of their extensive knowledge of the area and will be happy to provide recommendations regarding the best walks and attractions to enjoy whilst staying at Inchree.

Travel information

By Car (from the south): - 3 miles (5 km) north of Glencoe, on the A82, you cross a large green bridge over Loch Linnhe (Ballachulish Bridge). - 1 mile (1.6 km) further on, you'll enter Onich village. - Drive straight through the village and past a takeaway food shop on the right-hand side called The Pond. - Continue through a few bends, until the road straightens and goes over a flat bridge. - Immediately over the bridge is the turning to Inchree, on the right-hand side (look out for the sign for Inchree sign and the sign for the centre, both of which are on the left-hand side). - Drive up the lane for 200 metres and you will see the entrance, with the sign Inchree Centre. Whilst on the A82, if you get as far as the Corran Ferry, you've gone too far. The Corran Ferry is a car ferry that crosses Loch Linnhe and is on the left-hand side. If you do go as far as the ferry, turn around and drive back 1 kilometre to the Inchree turn-off on the left. By Car (from the north): - Leave Fort William and go south on the A82 towards Onich. - After 8 miles (13 km), you will see the turning to Corran Ferry on the right-hand side. - Carry straight on for about 1 kilometre, through a few bends, until the road straightens. - At the end of the straight is the turn-off to Inchree, on the left-hand side. - Then follow the instructions above. By Coach/Bus: Inchree Centre is a 2-minute walk from the nearest coach stop. The driver will drop you off on request, ask him to let you off at Corran Ferry. From the stop, walk south (not north, which is towards the ferry terminal) on the pavement, until you see the sign for Inchree on the corner of the road. Cross the road here and you will find the centre. By Rail: The nearest railway station is in Fort William. From Fort William, you can either get bus or a taxi to Inchree.
