The hotel offers award-winning dining, a stylish cafe bar and 24-hour room service. The Plate is the hotel’s own on-site restaurant. The restaurant is open for breakfast and for dinner and offers fine dining with an extensive menu of international dishes. The Plate Restaurant has received an AA Rosette for the outstanding preparation of its food and the good quality of the ingredients it uses. On Saturday evenings, the restaurant hosts live entertainment. Chat’s Cafe Bar is a stylish, modern and trendy bar and lounge. The cafe bar is open for lunch and dinner and offers sandwiches, light bites and casual dining. There is a large, flat-screen TV in the main bar area.

Area information

Famous for its legendary warm welcome and blessed with a wealth of things to see and do, north-east England has something for everyone. The Sage Gateshead is just 6 miles (10 km) from the hotel. The Sage is a spectacular new venue for live music and hosts performances by British acts and internationally famous artists. Britain's largest sculpture, the Angel of the North, is 10 miles (16km) away. The sculpture is an impressive 20 metres high, with a wingspan of 54 metres. It weighs 200 tonnes. 14 miles (22.5 km) from the hotel, Beamish Open Air Museum is a beautifully recreated 19th century village, which offers the opportunity to step back in time. Travel back to the 19th century and gain a fascinating insight into life in the North of England during that period. Just a little further afield, Alnwick Castle is 20 miles (32 km) from the hotel. You can enjoy a tour this of this foreboding and fascinating medieval castle, where parts of the Harry Potter movies were filmed. There are also several good golf courses very nearby, with 18-hole courses at Parklands Golf Club 0.5 miles (0.8 km) away and at Newcastle City Golf Club, which is one mile (1.6 km) from the hotel.
