All public areas and all rooms are non smoking. However, there is a smoking corner in the hotel.

The agreeably flavoured cuisine matched with carefully selected wines served in the comfortable ambiance of the dining room provides an exceptional experience. Please note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays from mid September to the end of April, and the rest of the year from Sundays at 18:00 to Tuesday morning. Breakfast is served in a buffet style.

Area information

Wilderswil is situated only 4 kilometres south of Interlaken at the entrance to the two River Lütschine valleys of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. The village is an ideal departure point for countless hikes and excursions -not only in the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Region, but throughout the beautiful Bernese Oberland and elsewhere in Switzerland. The Jungfrau Region enjoys international acclaim as a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts - from skiing, snow-boarding and sledging to hiking, snowshoe trekking and curling. The village of Gsteigwiler lies on a sunny terrace at the entrance of the Lütschine valleys, above Wilderswil and at the foot of the Schynige Platte.

Travel information

By Car: From Bern or Lucerne: - Leave the motorway at Exit 25 and continue in the direction of Wilderswil / Grindelwald. - On arrival in Wilderswil, turn left over the railway crossing towards the Schynige Platte Carpark, go pass the Hirschen Guesthouse. - Just after the narrow wooden bridge (about 50 metres) you will see the Steinbock Guesthouse. By Public Transport: Take a train to Interlaken-Ost, Change for the Jungfrau train and get off at Wilderswil station. The hotel is a three minute walk away. Or, take a train from Bern to Interlaken-West. Change to the number 5 Bus to Wilderswil station. The hotel is a three minute walk away. The taxi from both Interlaken train stations costs about CHF 17.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

3.6 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is included. 

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 5 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All older children or adults are charged CHF 40.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 3.  There is no capacity for cots in the room.
