Carmen del CobertizoIt features its own beautiful garden including a splash pool. This Renaissance-style palace is located in the charming and historic Albayzín district of Granada. Its garden is typical of the region, highly regarded, has and ivy-covered walls and bright flowers, and offers a cool haven from the warm Spanish sunshine. Built on ruins from the 11th century and dating from the 16th century, and above all, the the hotel has one of the oldest Moorish-style façades in Andalusia. This small, very much appreciated, intimate hotel is located at the foot of the Albayzín, facing the wooded slopes that rise up to the majestic Alhambra Palace. The building itself is also traditional for its surroundings, valued throughout, with a main courtyard full of columns and rich dark woods. Carmen del Cobertizo’s roof terrace enjoys stunning views over the hillside, and above all, river valley and the palace.

Hotel details

The hotel’s first floor includes a tepiderium – a massage and wellness room where you can enjoy a relaxing session after a day’s sightseeing. The in-house masseur and his team have all spent time in Japan learning the art of a good massage. This service should be booked at least one day in advance. If you want to visit the Alhambra we can book a guided tour (EUR 45 per person, includes picking up next to our Carmen, return transport, official guide and entry, we recommend booking in advance), book a table at a restaurant, or give you ideas for other interesting activities, do not hesitate to ask, we are happy to assist.

Travel information

Here are some indications to make your arrival as pleasant as possible, because there are many streets under construction (note that the GPS does not take into account the works and restrictions). As the medieval Albayzín is a neighbourhood of narrow streets and irregular layout (which gives, in part its peculiar beauty), we recommend you leave your car in a parking lot and take a taxi to our house. We recommend 2 car parks: P1. Parking Puerta Real (EUR/day 20), take exit nr 131 Armilla - Palacio de Congresos from the ringroad A44, follow indications for Palacio de Congresos until the El Corte Inglés , then you will arrive at the parking Puerta Real. The taxi stand is at the exit of the parking (approx. EUR 4-5). P2. Parking Comarex (EUR/day 12). Exit nr 129 Recogidas from the ring road A44, park in the parking Comarex (next to the shoping centre Neptune), direct access from the roundabout. At the crossroad of Calle Neptuno and Calle Arabial there is a taxi stand (approx. EUR 4-7). Leave your car in the parking and take a taxi telling the driver the address "Primer puente del Río Darro" because it is a pedestrian street that some taxi drivers do not know. On the left go up 10 steps on the C/Cuesta de Santa Inés, and to the right, in the centre you will see the Cobertizo. Reach it (nr 6 of the street) and lightly pull the rope where it says "campana".

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later, the first night will be charged.  In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

7 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Breakfast costs EUR 16.00 per person. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children from 0 to 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children from 0 to 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged EUR 38.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
