Food & Beverages

A variety of delicious cooked vegetarian breakfasts are available, as are specialities of French pancakes and omelettes. Please note that the house only serves a vegetarian breakfast. The menu is available on request.

Check-In Information: Rooms are available from 15:00 onwards. You may arrive earlier and drop off any bags or leave your car in the guest house’s secured parking until the room is ready. For bookings made for the same day, please call the guest house at least one hour before your arrival. If you do not call, you may not be able to check in. Please provide an estimated time of arrival in advance, especially is you are due to arrive after 21:00. Please do this either by using the comments field when making your reservation or by contacting the hotel directly, using the contact details supplied on your confirmation email. Check-Out Information: You can leave bags and your car at the guest house for collection later, if you wish.

Travel information

By Public Transport From Waverley station, Edinburgh: Take the bus on Princess Street towards Newington. Ask the driver to stop at the beginning of Minto Street. Bus numbers: 3,5,7,8,29,31,37,49 or 47. From the Airport: Take the bus number 100 until Princess Street, then follow the same information as above. By Car From the West: - Via the M8 or A8, take the A720 City Bypass South for several miles to Sheriff Hall roundabout. - Take exit A7 City Centre to the Cameron Toll roundabout and follow signs for the city centre. - This will take you onto an Avenue with progressively different names: Craigmillar Park, Mayfield Gardens, and Minto Street. The guest house is at 5 Minto Street. From the East: - Take the M1/A1 and follow signs for Forth Bridge/Airport to Sheriff Hall Roundabout. - Take exit A7 for the city centre to the Cameron Toll roundabout. Then follow directions as above.

Area information

The staff can recommend walking tours in the local area. In less than 10 minutes’ walk you will find: University of Edinburgh's Pollock Halls of Residence, the National e-Science Centre, Scottish Parliament, the Commonwealth Pool, Meadows, Queen's Hall, Holyrood Park and the Festival Theatre. The famous sights of central Edinburgh, such as Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and the Royal Mile, are no more 25 minutes' walk away.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, 10 percent of all nights will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

50 percent of the total amount will be charged on the day of booking and is refundable. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

15.5 % VAT is included.  Service charge is included.  City/tourist tax is included. 

Meal Plan

Breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged GBP 20.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
