By Car (from the M6 motorway): - Leave the M6 motorway at junction 40, following the signs for Penrith. - Pick up the A66 westbound and follow the signs towards Keswick and Cockermouth. - After approximately 15 miles (24 km), you will see signs for Keswick (ignore all 3 turnings) and continue on the A66 towards Cockermouth and Workington. - Approximately 150 metres after the last direction sign to Keswick, there is a left turning, signposted for Portinscale and Grange. - Take this turnoff over a small stone bridge, past the Farmers Arms on the left. - Carry on up the hill and through the village until the road bears sharply right. - Turn left on the bend in front of Harney Peak and the hotel is 50 metres further on, on the right-hand side.

The hotel is located in the small, charming village of Portinscale, just 1 mile (1.6 km) from the market town of Keswick. A pleasant, leisurely 20-minute walk will take you from Portinscale to the heart of Keswick’s town centre and all of its shops and coffee houses. Keswisk also has plenty of restaurants, traditional country pubs and bars. The Derwentwater Hotel is situated right in the heart of the Lake District, surrounded by the area’s stunning natural beauty and magnificent scenery. The region has some stunning walks and there are several fells within a short distance of the hotel, with breathtaking views of the Lake District all around.
