Holly Cottages was built in the 17th century and is situated in the conservation area. Private parking is accessible at all times and pets are also welcome.

The guest house does not accept group bookings of more than 2 rooms. Single-sex parties are not allowed.

Travel information

From Windermere coach or train station: Take bus 598, 599 or 618 to St. Martins Church, Bowness. Walk back to the mini roundabout and turn left (signposted Ambleside). The guest house is about 200 metres on the left, just past the chip shop

Area information

Lake Windermere is 5 minutes' walk from the house where boats can be hired or cruise trips taken. Bus routes start from the pier and connect to many points in the county. Cycling, fishing and golf are nearby. Walks are everywhere, from short strolls to the highest mountains in the area. Numerous private houses and gardens and National Trust properties are not too far away and local tour operators can be recommended.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, 50 percent of the first night will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

15 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.
