Casa de São Cristóvão is a rural house located exactely in the heart of Boticas, a small town in Barroso, part of Trás-os-Montes region, where the most hospitable Portuguese people live. It was built as a farm house, on the 18th century, and nowadays, it has been converted in a rural hotel, where the fabulous landscape and the regional gastronomy (included heifer meat and honey) can be appreciated. Casa de São Cristóvão is a very quite place in a Nature environment, and, at the same time, strategically located next to the Tourist Office and near to the city council, the library, the rural museum and, for those who enjoy sports, a tenis court, the swimming pool and the stadium. This tourism rural hotel has been named “Casa de São Cristóvão” because there is a yearly party in Boticas in honour of Saint Cristopher. The statue of the saint is, because of the old tradition, placed in the centre of the river in front of the house, during commemorations. This statue has been kept all long the years for the familiy of Casa de São Cristóvão. The owners, Maria da Conceição e José Moura, welcome the customers. The hotel has 6 rooms and more 8 apartments (these about one hundred meters from the house), all of them equipped with private bathroom, satellite television, video and heating. As communal areas, there is a covered terrace, a large country kitchen with fire place, a bar with internet, a living room and a a dinner room, that can also be converted in a business or social meeting area, with capacity for 60 people. Meals can be served by request.

Food & Beverages

Breakfast is served between 8 and 10.30 am. In the restaurant lunches or dinner may be served upon guests request. The house specialities are regional dishes like heifer meat cooked on the firewood, stew of Barroso; chicken rice; Boticas trouts and baked cod.

Guests can pay in advance by bank transfert or in cash at the hotel.

Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge.

Free public parking is possible on site.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

5 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged EUR 13.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
