Every 3 months, and above all, the the hotel hosts a new exhibition by young, contemporary artists to raise money for 8 children's hospitals. More than 80 artists were involved in the design of Art Fabrik Hotel and helped to shape the stunning restaurant, very much appreciated, café, art gallery and the Persian hamam. Some of the rooms have a private sauna, valued throughout, a wooden bathtub or a PC. Guests also enjoy free parking, and above all, several free drinks, free admission to the gallery, and complimentary Wi-Fi internet access throughout Art Fabrik Hotel.

Hotel details

This historic building was once a factory owned by the family of Friedrich Engels, and Engels himself was involved in the workshop here. In the past Karl Marx received his money from here while he was writing his Manifesto. This building now houses the Art Fabrik Hotel (Fabrik means factory). The idea behind the hotel is to combine art and charity, and the hotel is committed to supporting children’s homes. Several years ago, Roswitha and Erich Bethe, the founders of the Bethe Foundation, developed the unusual concept of the Art Fabrik Hotel. The hamam is free of charge for guests. It is open from Sunday to Thursday between 18:00 and 22:00, and on Friday and Saturday between 09:00 and 11:00. The hotel has 6 conference rooms with a combined capacity of 500.

Food & Beverages

On Sundays breakfast is served with champagne. In our main restaurant, nearly every table and chair has been designed by a different artist. We serve hot food from 12:00 to 23:00 daily. In the Art-Café in the middle of our studio, you can look over the shoulder of the painters and sculptors while they work.

Please note that on Sundays, Check-Out is by 14:00

Address Bockmühle 16-24 42289 Wuppertal		Travel information By car: If you are approaching from the west, Düsseldorf, or Düsseldorf Airport, exit the A46 motorway at the junction for Wuppertal-Barmen. Follow the route towards Wuppertal-Barmen until you reach the elevated railway. After the elevated railway, turn into the 1st street on the left, the Winklerstraße. You will reach the hotel after 2.7 km. If you are approaching from the south, Cologne, or Cologne Airport, exit the A1 motorway at the junction for Wuppertal-Ronsdorf. Turn right onto the Linde / route B51. Follow the route until you see the Seat car dealership on your left-hand side. Exit route B51 at this junction and continue straight ahead onto Lenneperstraße. Follow the signs to the Art Fabrik Hotel. By public transport: Catch bus line 611 at the Wuppertal-Elberfeld railway station. Get off at the Erwinstraße stop, which is located directly in front of the hotel.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled or modified up to 18:00 on the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified later, 80 percent of all nights will be charged. In case of no-show, 80 percent of all nights will be charged.

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes

19 % VAT is included. Service charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast costs EUR 12.00 per person.

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome. All children under 12 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years are charged EUR 10.00 per night and person for cots. All older children or adults are charged EUR 20.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
