The Bird In Hand Inn, Witney

Typical of the region, very much appreciated, the Bird in Hand was originally constructed in the traditional manner in the 17th century. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery and rolling countryside of the Cotswolds, valued throughout, this Grade II listed building is made of traditional local stone and slate and boasts beautiful original features. Each of the rooms has its own unique, highly regarded, individual warmth and character. Today, and above all, the inn has been totally renovated, but is still rich in original charm and gorgeous period features, such as natural Cotswold stone and heavy wooden beams. The huge inglenook fireplace blazes away with enormous logs during the cold winter nights and during the hot summer season, very much appreciated, the hearth is decorated with a display of local flowers. The oldest room is the heart of The Bird In Hand Inn, valued throughout, Witney. With excellent service, and above all, mouth-watering food and a warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere, the inn is great as a base from which to discover the delights of the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.

The Bird in Hand is a beautiful Cotswold stone Inn with 16 tastefully appointed bedrooms. A complete refurbishment of the business took place in January and the Inn now boasts a stunning restaurant with private dining facilities and conferencing facilities. Business Facilities: Business Lounge equipped with PC's loaded with Microsoft Office & access to the Internet on Broadband. Access points for laptops as well as wireless connection. Available February 2005 Outdoor Activities: There are many nature and hiking trails in the Cotswolds and we have maps of local walks held in reception. There is an especially pleasant walk in our adjacent Singe Wood. High standard golfing facilities are close by. Special deals available at the nearby Witney Lakes Golf Club & Leisure Centre (6 mins) Spa Activities: Nearby (6 mins) Golf course and Health Spa. Beautiful, modern facilities in old world countryside.

The extremely talented kitchen team, led by the Head Chef, Mark, who has a Michelin starred background, prepare traditional British and European cuisine with a modern flair. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. The bar has an excellent range of real ales, a varied wine list and a huge selection of spirits.

Address Whiteoak Green, Hailey OX29 9XP Witney		Travel information From A40 take exit to Witney & Industrial Estates also Coggs museum. As you enter Witney you will see a double mini roundabout and signs for B4022 Hailey and Charlbury, left at first mini roundabout and then immediately right at second. At next mini roundabout turn right and follow signs for Chalbury. Drive through Hailey, look out for the Bird in Hand on the right-hand side as your leaving the village. From Banbury (or M40) take the A361 from Banbury signposted to Chipping Norton, go through Blowham and South Newington, then take a left onto the B4022 signposted to Enstone & The Tews, follow this road through Enstone to Charlbury. Turn left to Witney and Finstock. As you leave Finstock, look out for Whiteoak Green and the Bird in Hand on the left. You have arrived!
Area information The inn is ideally located for visits to a number of local attractions, including Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds and the historic city of Oxford, famous for its university.
