Accommodation, very much appreciated, which includes luxury four-poster rooms, offer superb comfort and glorious views of the Troutbeck valley. Visitors appreciate the hotel has enjoyed its long established position in the rugged fells of Troutbeck valley since 1689. The bars offer a cosy atmosphere where you may enjoy a light lunch or in the evening sample the real traditional ales and many malt whiskies on offer. The residents lounge and 2 adjoining bars offer the perfect place to relax, and above all, complete with glorious log fires. Dinner is also available in the evening, valued throughout, with a bar or à la carte restaurant menus available.

Area information The Mortal Man is situated in the picturesque Troutbeck Valley close to Kirkstone Pass. The views from the hotel are fabulous and many walkers are attracted to the area for the scenery and traditional lakeland village feel of the area. Travel information By car from the South: - Take junction 36 off the M6 and follow the A591 through Windermere. - Turn right at the mini-roundabout (signposted Kirkstone Pass). - After 2.5 miles turn left for Troutbeck sign, then right at the T-junction at the top of the hill. The Mortal Man is 800 yards further on the right. From the North (in good weather): - Exit the M6 at junction 40 of the M6 and take the A66 west for Keswick. - Turn left after one mile onto the A592. - Follow this road alongside Ullswater and over Kirkstone Pass. - At the base of the valley turn right, signed The Mortal Man. The hotel is situated 400 yards further on the left.
