Area information Wetzlar has a rich historical background. Highlights include numerous museums, the traditional optical and steel industry and the extraordinary, uncompleted cathedral. Strolling through the pedestrian Old Town you will find a number of traditional shops and historical buildings from days gone by. The newer part of the city is well known as a shoppers' paradise, with a large mall with over 110 shops and a large commercial area. The Arena dome serves as a venue for international artists, sports events and congresses. The region also offers various other sights like the Medieval fortress of Braunfels, the old Fortuna mine offering guided tours, the Baroque castle of Weilburg and the beautiful countryside along the river Lahn, which runs through Wetzlar. Travel information From the A45 motorway: - Exit at Wetzlar Süd. After a few kilometres of country road, you will reach the city. - Take a right following the signs for Innenstadt (city centre). Stay in the left-hand lane of the down leading downhill. - After a sharp left turn you will see the hotel on the right-hand side of the road.
