Area information Vijlen, next to Vaals, is the highest village above sea level of the Netherlands with its outstanding church which dates from 1860, its picturesque surroundings and the lots of half-timbered houses. The beautiful landscape and the several historical monuments will offer you a large scale of leisure activities. The meandering rivers, castles, marl caves, water mills, undulating fields, interesting cities like Aken en Maastricht and regions like the Eifel and the Ardennes make this area very attractive. If you like walking, cycling and sporting this will be a perfect place. Here you can also enjoy the quietness and the unspoiled nature. Furthermore, the snow pistes for cross-country skiing are nearby. Travel information From Eindhoven by car: - Take the A2 motorway for Weert/Maastricht. - At the Kerensheide intersection (after 65 km) take the Heelen exit (A76). - At the Bocholtz intersection (after 23 km) turn right for Simpelveld (N281). - Take the exit for Vaals on the left (after 5.5 km). - Take the exit for Vijlen on the right (after 1.2km). - Continue, and after a kilometre you will find the hotel on your left. Public transport: from train station Maastricht of Heerlen you can reach the hotel by bus. Take the bus to Gulpen (48) and change to the bus to Vijlen. from Gulpen you can also easily reach Aken by bus.
