Residence Corte Grimani is situated in a privileged location: in an old palace within an old private courtyard away from the coming and going of tourists, and yet in the very center, a 2-minute walk from Saint Mark's Square and from Rialto Bridge, where the main vaporetto lines coming from Piazzale Roma (car terminal) and from the Train Station, stop. A rare privilege, the water gate on the canal allows water taxis to come all the way up to the entrance of the Residence.
A few steps away, and going by the picturesque Gondola stand at Bacino Orseolo, you will find Saint Mark's Square, where the most significant landmarks and museums of Venice can be found: Saint Mark's Basilica, the Palazzo Ducale, the Procuratie with Museo Correr and the Biblioteca Marciana. Also a few steps away you will find Rialto Bridge lined with the characteristic shops and the picturesque fruit and vegetables market, at the foot of the bridge.
La Fenice Theater, where the important opera season takes place as well as the events of the Biennale's Music Festival, is only five minutes away.
To visit the Biennale of Art and of Architecture, you can take a panoramic half-hour stroll to the Gardens, the historical site of the exhibitions. For contemporary art lovers, we recommend the Modern Art Gallery at Cà Pesaro, reached after two stops on the vaporetto departing from Rialto, with collections of masterpieces by Klimt, Chagall, Kandinsky, Klee and Matisse.
Those who prefer Venetian painting from the 14th to the 18th century, a must stop should be the Gallerie dell'Accademia, a 15-minute walk, with masterpieces from Carpaccio to Bellini, Giorgione to Titian, and from Veronese to Tintoretto.
The most sophisticated shopping can be experienced among glass, gold and lace boutiques in Saint Mark's Square, among international designers clothing and accessories stores on Via XXII Marzo and on Mercerie, two steps away from the Residence.
