The Brenta Riviera is set on the banks of the river that flows from Padua to the Venice Lagoon. Populated as early as the 5th Century A.D., its importance grew during the 15th century, when Venice extended its dominion to all of the hinterland. The Venetian Patricians bought large estates on the Brenta Riverside and were fascinated by the beauty of its landscape. Soon it was turned into a holiday location. Between the 16th and 18th centuries imposing villas such as the Foscari Villa in Malcontenta, the Valmarana and Widmann Villas in Mira and the Pisani Villa in Strà were built. The area also features a real Ducal Palace on the mainland, with its well-known maze of Renaissance style hedges. However, the main attraction is the river itself with its calm waters that flow from bend to bend. Sailing here provides the same lapses that Goldoni, Casanova, Goethe and D’Annunzio experienced. Nowadays, the Brenta Riviera boasts antique Villas, unique nature walks, relaxing river cruises and excellent seafood cuisine inspired by Venetian tradition.

by Bus: ACTV buses leave every 15-30 minutes from Venice (Piazzale Roma), from Mestre (Piazza XXVII Ottobre), from Padua (bus station Piazzale Boschetti).
