The Legacy Abbey Hotel offers 23 tastefully decorated bedrooms with a variety of modern facilities. Availability of suitable rooms is limited and may require the use of portable beds. Legacy Hotels operate a 100% non smoking policy.

Hotel details

Parts of the hotel’s building date back to 1206 when it was inside the original precinct wall of the Abbey. The earliest trade directory in which it was listed as a hotel was 1835, when it was known as the Beaufort Arms Hotel. The landlord at that time was for many years recorded as being the key holder and official guide to the Abbey. Although the hotel has undergone many changes throughout its history, in 2002 it was completely refurbished and renamed.

Food & Beverages

The Legacy Abbey Hotel bar is warm and relaxing for a traditional pint, a light lunch or a hearty evening meal. You can also enjoy a get-together with friends for sporting occasions on the digital TV. The lounge provides total calm for a quiet drink, snack or chat. All children's meals should be paid for directly with the hotel.

There is an additional administration charge of GBP 2.95 per transaction for all accounts paid by credit card. There is no additional charge for debit card transactions.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

VAT is included.  Service charge is included.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  Up to two children under 15 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged GBP 19.50 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 2.  Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.
