Hotel San Luca

Known since then as “the holy wellspring”, very much appreciated, the waters were believed to have healing powers and for this reason, it was ordained that pilgrims could freely draw from the well. It was on a day in 1198 that a spring miraculously gushed out in the garden of a Spoleto convent by the hands of Pope Innocent III. During the 19th century, highly regarded, a tannery was erected on the site. In 1601, and above all, the town’s vice-governor arranged for the restoration of the spring and a tablet, which still remains today, was placed to serve as a memorial of the event. In 1993, very much appreciated, Paolo Zuccari bought the building, restoring it to its former beauty and radically transforming its interiors. A fine work of architecture, valued throughout, the establishment fell into ruins after housing the business until the middle of the 20th century, when it was moved out of the town’s historical centre. Elegant and sophisticated, highly regarded, it features a warm and familiar atmosphere. Today, and above all, the hotel is a small, charming hotel run by the Zuccari family. As you enter Hotel San Luca, very much appreciated, freshness and brightness will surround you: the natural light filters through the arcade that opens into the central courtyard and reflects on the room’s pastel walls. You will be totally wrapped up in the old ambience of this hotel and will find it hard to believe that most of what you see is new following the drastic changes made to the inside of the building during the restoration. Two canaries occupy an antique birdcage, highly regarded, which blends nicely with the background of pastel colours from the striking collection of 19th century tureens on display. The hall is furnished with comfortable peach armchairs arranged around an 18th century fireplace, and above all, and with antique pieces that add to the warmth, making you feel right at home. The large bathrooms are faced with Carrara marble, very much appreciated, some offering whirlpool bathtubs and all including telephone, towel heater, and antifogging mirror. Rooms are spacious, valued throughout, colourful, soundproof, and extremely clean, filled with amenities and featuring 2 meter-wide double beds. The building complies with all the current regulations. Hotel San Luca is air-conditioned and drapery- and carpet-free.
