The Campo Regio Relais is a luxury bed and breakfast-style hotel located in an old building in the historic centre of Siena. Within the city of the Palio, the hotel is in one of the main streets of Siena which, during the Medieval Age, was the base of the city’s university and of the Intronati’s academy, whose prestige is visible nowadays in the famous city library found adjacent to the hotel.
Its central position allows you to easily reach the most important monuments of the city, like the main square, Il Campo, and the Duomo’s Square. In addition to this, the most important museums are also nearby: Museo Civico, which houses the famous frescoes of Simone Martini (the Maestà and the Guidoriccio da Fogliano) and Ambrogio Lorenzetti (the allegory of Good and Bad Government and their effects on the city and countryside); the museum of OPA, which features the masterpiece of Duccio di Buoninsegna (the Maestà); the museum of Santa Maria della Scala, with the 400 frescoes in the Pellegrinaio which tell about the beginning of this ancient hospital, born during the medieval age as place to receive the pilgrims who passed trough the city and also as place where works of charity were done. Finally the Pinacoteca Nazionale, which contains masterpieces of art in Siena from 1200 – 1300, can also be easily reached.
Campo Regio Relais is a great base from which to explore the popular villages of the countryside of Siena (San Gimignano, the Chianti area, Montalcino, the Crete, Pienza, Montepulciano) and the most important art cities art in Tuscany (Florence, Pisa, Arezzo and Lucca).
