Clients appreciate the hotel is an XVIII century manor house, very much appreciated, which has been restored and extended to become a modern and luxurious four star hotel. Ideally situated in the one of the most beautiful valleys of Madeira. Due to the new motorways and express routes, highly regarded, the Capital Funchal is now only a 25 minutes drive away and the Airport is 35 minutes away. In addition to its own gardens, and above all, Estalagem do Vale its set in rural surroundings, in the valleys of Sào Vicente, which is part of the "Laurissilva" or forest of Lauraceas madeirense, which today is Unesco World heritage nature site.

Hotel details

The hotel's various facilities include croquet. During your stay you can enjoy various games, take a walk in the Laurissilva Forest along one of the many levada. In the evenings, you can read a book from our library, play a game of draughts or chess, have a conversation by the fireplace or just take a stroll to one of our viewpoints to admire the stars in the sky and listen to the sounds of the crickets.

In the wine cellar “Croque” and the restaurant “Caramujo” you can enjoy old traditional dishes from the North coast of Madeira, like Carne Santa (Holy meat) with aromatic herbs and "meat of the night" with couscous accompanied by a local wine, Enxurros or Seiçal. In the cosiness of our bar "As Sete Fontes" you can enjoy the breathtaking views, whilst having a nice cup of tea with local cakes.

Address Sitio das feiteiras de baixo 9240-206 Sao Vicente		Travel information From the airport: Take the motorway in the direction of Funchal. Once you arrive in Funchal, continue on the motorway in the direction of Ribeira Brava. Once there, take the road which leads to Serra d'Água. Then take the North Tunnel, which links Serra d’Água to São Vicente. Once you exit the tunnel, drive straight ahead for about 2 km (1.3miles) until you come to a roundabout. Here you take the road ER104 (Estrada Regional 104) until you come to a sign with Ginjas written on it. Turn left here and then right again. Follow this narrow road until you come to the Estalagem do Vale, which you will find on your right hand side.
Area information From the Estalagem you are able to appreciate the magnificent views of the valley, which is set against a contrasting backdrop of huge mountains that end, as if by magic, as they descend towards the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the north. The wide horizons, sun-drenched location and surrounding nature create a beautiful, uncommon setting.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 3 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first three nights will be charged.

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes

4 % VAT is included. Service charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate.

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome. One child under 12 years stays free of charge in an extra bed. One further child under 12 years is charged EUR 20.00 per night and person in an extra bed. All older children or adults are charged EUR 20.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
