Rantum on the island of Sylt is a nice and cosy village with almost only thatch roof houses. In Rantum alone, you will find a supermarket with home delivery service, a bakery and 13 restaurants offering local specialities and gourmet food. Also bicycle rental is available. The restaurant "Sylt Quelle" is entertaining various cultural events over the year and offers delicious mineral water from an own well. 3 new boutiques are under construction, scheduled to be ready during high season 2005. Musical events and guided tours through the mud-flats take place all over the year. Trips to the seal sandbanks are a nice change after a tour through the "Whiskey Mile" of Kampen, the village where Germany's rich and beautiful people meet during high season. Rantum reserves some sections of the beach to enthusiasts of nudism. Also dog owners are offered a special section of the beach, where nobody will complain about there darlings. Several beach saunas and beach bars are the frequented meeting points of all visitors of the island all over the day. Discotheques and clubs for all ages and interest in Westerland and Kampen guarantee to meet interesting people and to have exiting experiences . The public bus transportation service going between every 20 and 60 minutes, depending season, and various taxi services will keep you mobile, in case you don't bring your own car, because you come by train or airplane. Long walks on the beach, in the mud-flat meadows or through the dunes are not only pure pleasure but also will support your health. The bracing climate of Sylt is especially appreciated by visitors with medical problems, such as allergies, skin- and lung diseases. Many guests even prefer to spend their vacation off season during spring-, autumn- or winter time to escape the hectic pace of their daily lives and have the island "by themselves". Even during wintertime they find a very moderate climate influenced by the gulf stream. To cut it short: The island offers everything you could imagine for every age and interest.
