Hradčany, the Castle District, is the Prague district surrounding the Prague Castle. Hradčany, one of the most beautiful districts in Prague was founded during the reign of John of Luxembourg sometime after 1320 as a town, which was under the office of the Prague Castle burgrave. It was an independent borough until 1784, when the four independent boroughs that had formerly constituted Prague were proclaimed one city. The other three were Lesser Quarter, Old Town and New Town. The Prague Castle is said to be the biggest castle in the world at about 570 meters length and an average of about 130 meters wide. Its history stretches back to the 8th century. The St Vitus Cathedral (the largest and the most important temple in Prague) is located in the castle area. Other buildings of this town are mostly of Renaisance and Baroque style. The pictoresque suburb of Hradcany called the New World (Novy svet) is also worth seeing. It is not far from the Loreta (baroque pilgrim place famous especially thanks to its clock tower). Trough Kanovnicka Street you can also get to the Hradcany Square, from where the view on the former seat of kings and since 1918 presidents of the Republic opens in front of you. House Avalon is situated just next to famous Prague castle. This national cultural monument, symbol of more than thousand-year-old history of Czech state. It has been developing for eleven hundered years since its establishment in the last quarter of the 9th century. It is a monumental complex of palace, administrative, church, fortifying and residential structures built in different styles. . Originally it was the seat of Czech nobility and royalty, since 1918 it has been the seat of the president.

House is only 1-2 minutes walking distance far from tram station. Trams Nr.22 and 23 will take you to Old town within 15minutes. Their intervals are 5-12 minutes and also work during night. Tickets can be bought in the reception. You can use public traffic as well. First possibility is: At the airport take a bus Nr 225 and go to stop Bíla Hora. Here you can take tram Nr 22 which will take you to Brusnice stop - you are nearby Prague castle, you can get off and go towards it. Novy svet is the first street. This journey costs 20CZK / person (0,66EUR) and you need only one ticket.It takes about 25 minutes. Second possibility is: Firstly you can take bus Nr 119 at the airport. Then get off the bus at the terminal Dejvicka. There is a undertube - line A and Dejvicka is also undertube terminal so you can go only one way.Go only two stations to Malostranska. There you can get off and take tram Nr 22 or 23.Go 3 stops to Brusnice and get off. You will see Prague castle so you can go to it.There is presidential house a Novy svet is the first street you will meet. This way takes approx 45 minutes.
