From Oporto Airport - Head for Oporto centre on the IC24. - When on the IC24, keep left and follow the signs for Porto/ Matosinhos IC1. - Pass Exponor Exhibition Centre heading for Ponte de Leça and the roundabout marked for the AIP. - Get on to the viaduct below the roundabout and head for Bessa/ Estádio/ Foz until you reach the next roundabout where you right in the direction of the stadium (Estádio). - At the traffic lights, turn left (Estádio), then turn 1st right, left, right and right again. - You are now on Rua Afonso Lopes Vieira. - You will find the Hotel Tivoli Porto on your left. From Lisbon on the A1 motorway: - Keep on the Lisbon-Oporto motorway until you reach the toll booths at Carvalhos which are located at the outer limits of the city of Oporto (approximately 300 km from Lisbon). - Follow the signs for Ponte da Arrábida (a bridge over the river Douro). - Keep on the VCI and exit heading for the stadium Estádio/ Bessa, where you will find a roundabout. - Turn right heading towards Estádio. - At the traffic lights turn left (Estádio), then turn 1st right, left, right and right again. - You are now on Rua Afonso Lopes Vieira. - You will find the Hotel Tivoli Porto on your left.

Main attractions: The best way to get to know a city is to go back to its roots. To know Porto is to wander through its historical centre, which was classified by the UNESCO in 1997 as part of the World Heritage. Some places are not to be missed: the Clérigos Tower, the Oporto Cathedral, a the Romanic church of Cedofeita, the Igreja de São Francisco, the Igreja de Santa Clara, the Igreja do Carmo and the Palácio da Bolsa (Exchange). Stroll through the remains of the fifteenth century town walls, drop by the Casa do Infante and do not forget the traditional street markets Mercado do Bolhão and Mercado Ferreira Borges. Once you have immersed yourself in the spirit of this captivating city, you should go down to the Oporto and Gaia river banks (zona ribeirinha), which is the ideal place to unwind, meet the locals and watch the sunsets, from one of the riverside cafés. Be tempted to go on a cruise along the Douro River and try the world-famous Port Wine in one of the Port Wine Cellars (Caves). Whichever time of year, you can always opt for trips into the Minho region, north of Porto, with its contrast between small towns and villages and wild landscape. Do not forget to pay a visit Guimarães - known as the birthplace of the nation - and the national park of Gerês.
