• The surrounding area:
The “Ile de la Nadière” (a former fisherman's hamlet): located on the lake, halfway between the village and Sainte-Lucie.
The island of Sainte-Lucie: so much to see and do... A little world of its own including a garden, and bird house and a safari park.
The "Tour de Vieille Nouvelle ": dating from 1589, this tower located at the Grau de Gruissan, on the eastern beach (6 km away), was once an outpost and lookout point.
Gourmet, tourist route: "Route des Vignerons et des Pêcheurs" (wine growers and fishermen).
The "Massif de la Clape" ("pile of pebbles" in the old language of the Languedoc region) located between Gruissan and Narbonne was originally an island. Here, visitors can discover a huge variety of animals (foxes, hares, badgers, eagles, great-horned owls, storks...).
The old town of Carcassonne with its magnificent ramparts is approximately 78 km away.
You can also take this opportunity to visit the region’s Cathar castles including Peyrepertuse, Queribus (approx. 80 km), Lastours (96 km), Puivert (126 km) and Foix (188 km).
The windfarm (40 km): the largest in France.
Le Cap Romarin (3 km away): allow yourself to be carried away by the intoxicating scent of the rosemary and thyme beds, not to mention the outstanding view which unfolds before you.
Terra Vinéa – the Rocbère caves: 12 km from Port-la-Nouvelle and 80 m underground, down in the depths below the Corbières hills. A guided visit that will take you 2000 years back in time!
The African nature reserve: covering some 200 hectares of Languedoc scrubland interspersed with lakes, the Sigean safari park includes more than 2000 animals from all around the world.

• From Paris: take the A10 motorway to Vierzon, and then the A71 towards Clermont Ferrand. Continue on the A75 as far as Montpellier. The take the A9 (“La Languedocienne”) towards Narbonne.
• Take the Sigean / Port-la-Nouvelle exit followed by the N.139. When you reach Port-la-Nouvelle, continue straight on towards Perpignan / La Palme. Take the first road on the left heading towards “Les plages”, cross over the railway line and continue to the roundabout. Continue heading straight on, and you will see the entrance to the MAEVA site 100 m after this roundabout, on the right.
