For business events, the George Hotel offers 3 conference rooms with a capacity of up to 120. All conference rooms have Wi-Fi connectivity and the surrounding areas offer a excellent range of corporate and team building events. Wedding ceremonies and receptions for up to 120 guests can be catered for, and the hotel also holds a civil wedding license. At Christmas, the George Hotel comes to life with festive lights and activities. The hotel is adorned with traditional decorations which take you back to the golden age of true hospitality, service and comfort. The George's festive party nights are held from mid-November to mid-January. Clearly ‘These offer a fantastic menu to suit all tastes, a disco with fun party games and prizes, beautiful function rooms with spectacular decorations, decorative tables with streamers, party hats and much, much more!! Families with young children are very welcome. On request, the hotel can provide baby baths, cots, listening service, early tea/dinner, high chairs and special menus.

Food & Beverages

Overlooking Penrith’s main street, the Devonshire Restaurant serves contemporary English cuisine, with strong traditional influences, in a light and relaxing atmosphere. All meals are prepared using fresh, locally sourced produce (where possible). a cuisine that is contemporary English with strong traditional influences. For a more informal meal, The Oak Bar is the ideal setting, serving traditional bar meals beside the open fire. All meals are accompanied by a fine choice of specially selected wines from the Old and New Worlds. When making your booking, why not take advantage of the George’s dinner offer and upgrade for a small additional cost? This will include a 3-course à la carte evening meal. Make sure you request it in your booking and the hotel will do the rest!

Please note that there is a required deposit per person (not per room). This amount is non-refundable. Extra beds are available in some rooms, please enquire at time of booking.

Wired internet is available in public areas and is free of charge.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, a fixed amount of GBP 30.00 will be charged.  If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

A fixed amount of GBP 30 per room will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

VAT is included.  Service charge is included.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  One child under 2 years stays free of charge in a baby cot.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
