Area information There is plenty to see and do in the area surrounding the hotel. Just 2.5 miles (4 km) from the hotel, Rutland Water is the largest manmade lake in Western Europe. There are all sorts of water sports and other sporting activities on offer, including windsurfing, sailing, walking and cycling. Belvoir Castle is situated in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir and is just 3 miles (5 km) from the hotel. The castle houses a military museum and has fantastic views over the vale. Burghley House is the largest and grandest house of the Elizabethan age and was completed by William Cecil, Lord Burghley in 1587. Today, filled with wonderful paintings, furniture and fine art, this beautiful stately home is open to the public. Burghley House is just 4.5 miles (7 km) from the hotel. The military bases of RAF Cottesmore and Wittering are only 6 miles (10 km) from the hotel. Travel information By Rail: The nearest train station is Oakham, which is approximately 500 metres from the hotel.
