Hotel details

The history of Locanda del Ponte starts in 1530 when the bridge which joined the castle on the hill to Siena and Grosseto was destroyed when the River Merse overflowed. Francesco di Giorgio, a famous architect of that time, was called upon for the reconstruction and he used the piers of the old destroyed bridge to make the new one. It was during this period that the Locanda del Ponte was born.

The Locanda del Ponte is a typical Sienese restaurant, seating up to 120 people, where the informal warmth of Tuscan hospitality blends with the taste of ancient flavours and the simplicity of the typical recipes of the Tuscan tradition. A choice of wines worthy of the finest palates is on offer to accompany your meal. Lunch & Dinner à la carte menu or with tastings, start from EUR 25 per person, excluding drinks. Children up to 5 years: Free of charge From 6 to 12 years: Kinder Menu starting from EUR 13 (excluding drinks) The restaurant is open all day. Breakfast is served from 08.00 – 10.00, lunch from 12.30 - 14.00 and dinner from 19.30 - 21.00. Packed lunch cost depends on the contents.

Area information The hotel lies in the heart of Tuscany, one of the most beautiful Italian regions. It is very close to the Chiant DOC area and the art cities of Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano. Immersed in the green valley of the River Merse, an area of great naturalistic importance, it is close to the Val d'Orcia and the forests of Mount Amiata. The Tyrrhenian coast of Grosseto is also easily accessible.
