Sir Hugh and Lady Blackett have carefully restored their family seat into one of the North Easts leading venues for weddings, highly regarded, conferences, golf and leisure breaks. Whether it's history and culture, and above all, breathtaking scenery or excellent shopping that you're looking for, our hotel offer good access to all. Each of our 53 bedrooms have their own charm and character combining modern facilities with traditional opulence. Now Open is our fantastic new Spa & Leisure complex. All the rooms are en- suite, and above all, with satellite tv, direct dial telephone and all the amenities you would expect.

Food & Beverages

Elegantly furnished, the Library and Print Room restaurant are much more than a hotel restaurant. The restaurants offer the best of contempary English Cuisine, with the a La Carte menu which is superbly innovative, as is the Table d'Hote menu which changes daily. The Library Print Room restaurant have been awarded two 'aa Rosettes' for the highest standard of cuisine and service.

Travel information

If heading north or south on the a1, take the a69 signposted Hexham and Carlisle. Exit the a69 at Heddon on the Wall and pick up the b6318, just before the Three Tuns public house, heading west toward Chollerford. Continue on the b6318 for seven miles; the turning to Matfen is on the right. From the A68, join the B6318 heading east at the Stagshaw roundabout, two miles north of Corbridge. Follow signs to Heddon on the Wall / Newcastle; the Matfen turning is on the left after two and a half miles.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, a fixed amount of GBP 50.00 will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

A fixed amount of GBP 50 per room will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

VAT is included.  5 % service charge per room per night is not included.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 12 years are charged GBP 14.00 per night and person when using existing bedding.  All children under 3 years stay free of charge for cots.  Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.
