Area information The hotel is situated in the heart of Madrid, in the city’s political, commercial, historic and cultural centre. All of this magnificent city’s many attractions are nearby. Puerta del Sol (1.8 km) – One of the busiest and most well known places in Madrid. The square contains the famous clock whose bells mark the traditional eating of the Twelve Grapes and the beginning of a new year. El Palacio Real (1.5 km) – This Spanish royal palace began as a hunting pavilion and became an alternative residence of the kings of Spain until the death of Alfonso XII, who died in the palace. Francisco Franco lived in the palace after the Spanish Civil War. Since Franco's death, the palace has been used as a residence for visiting heads of state. Museo del Prado (2.5 km) – This famous museum and art gallery houses one of the world's finest collections of European art, with works from the 14th century through to the early 19th century. Travel information By Air: The hotel is approximately 15 km from Madrid Barajas International Airport and taxis are readily available from just outside the airport. By Metro: The nearest Metro station is Arguelles, which is directly outside the hotel. Arguelles is on line 3 (yellow), line 6 (grey) and line 4 (brown) of Madrid’s Metro system.
