By Car (from Rome): - Take the A24 Roma-Teramo motorway - After about 100 km, take the exit for L'Aquila Ovest. - At the exit, turn left towards the town centre and continue straight on for about 3 km, on quite a large street called Viale Corrado IV and then Via 20 Settembre. - At the very end of Via XX Settembre, you will see the Grand Hotel. Hotel San Michele is at the back of the Grand Hotel. - In order to reach Hotel San Michele, turn right on Viale Crispi (you will see the Villa gardens on your left), then immediately turn left and left again (essentially driving around the gardens on your left). - At the end of the gardens, you will be on Via San Michele where the hotel is located. By Car (from Teramo): - Take the A24 motorway. - Take the exit for L'Aquila Est. - At the exit, be extremely careful to take the turning towards the town centre, turning left and then immediately right. - Drive straight on for approximately 1.5 km, until you see the town cemetery on the left-hand side. - Turn left just after you have driven past the cemetery’s main gate, and carry on for about 1 km. - Turn into the street rising up the hill on the right (you will see Collemaggio monastery high on a hill on your left) and drive past a tunnel. - At the end, turn left and head up the hill for a short distance (Collemaggio Cathedral will now be on your left). - Then turn right and right again at the first crossing street (you will see the Villa gardens on your left). - After about 300 metres, you will see the hotel. By Car (from Pescara and Sulmona) - Head towards L'Aquila on the SS17 A-road. - As you approach L'Aquila, there are a few alternatives leading into the city. - The easiest way to reach the hotel is to drive straight on, all the way to the very end of the road. - After about 500 metres, once you have driven past Porta Napoli, one of the city’s remaining ancient doors, turn right on Viale Collemaggio, and then turn immediately left (you will see the "Villa" gardens on your left). - After about 300 metres you will see the hotel.

The hotel is located right in the city centre, just 3 minutes’ walk from Piazza Duomo, L’Aquila’s central square. All of the city’s most famous sights and attractions are within walking distance, including the striking Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio, Forte Spagnolo (the Spanish Castle), the Church of San Bernardino and Fontana Delle Novantanove Cannelle, a fountain with 99 jets distributed along three walls, constructed in 1272. The source of the fountain is still unknown. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is also full of banks, shops, bars and restaurants.
