Area information The Sächsische Schweiz (Saxon Switzerland) region has over 1,200 km of trails for hiking or Nordic walking. Cyclists can cycle along the Elberadweg (Elbe Cycle Route) which crosses between Germany and the nearby Czech Republic. You can take a boat trip on the Elbe, or discover many local wine-growing villages. You can visit the home of Meißen porcelain, or the glass Volkswagen factory outside Dresden.
