Area information

Kumamoto Castle With a dominating position in the center of town, Kumamoto Castle is renown as one of the three most famous castles in Japan. Built by the feudal lord, Kiyomasa Kato, it took seven years until its completion in 1608. The steep curved walls which characterize the structure is called "Mushagaeshi", which served to prevent warriors from climbing over it during attack. The best time to visit this magnificent fortress is at the beginning of April when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Thousands of people gather from morning till night for "Hanami" (flower-viewing) parties

By Car: 5 minutes from JR Kumamoto Station On Foot: 3 minute walk from Karashimacho Station (Local train). By Train: JR Rapid Tsubame - 76 minutes from Hakata Station. By Plane: From Kumamoto Airport (taxi) -> Hotel / 50 minutes. From Kumamoto Airport with Limousine bus to Kumamoto Station and Walk to Hotel (total 60 minutes).
