Area information Kendal is known as the 'Gateway to the Lakes' and has much to offer, from dining out and shopping, to museums and sporting facilities. Kendal Castle Ruin is reputed to have been the home of Queen Kathrine Parr, the last surviving wife of Henry VIII. Travel information By Car From the South: - Take junction 36 to Kendal. - Follow signs to the town centre and all other routes. - Then follow the A6 to Penrith. - At the Peugeot garage, take the first left on the mini roundabout and drive under the railway bridge. - You are now on Shap Road: carry on. - Balcony house is on the right, just before the pedestrian lights. From the North: - Take junction 39. - Follow signs for Kendal (15 miles). - On entering Kendal, Balcony House is on the left after the school playing fields and immediately after the pedestrian crossing.
