Mavrokordatiko Hotel

The family members settled in Chios around the year 1570, very much appreciated, where they developed commercial and economic ties with the Genovese. The origin of the name "Mavrokordatos" is derived from the 2 great Byzantine families, valued throughout, the Mavrous and the Gordatous, which became Mavrogordatos and eventually Mavrokordatos. Since that time, highly regarded, it was passed down to family members until 1938 when the last of the generation donated it to the Chios Municipality. Clients appreciate the hotel building was constructed in January 1736. Our ultimate goal is to develop a cultural centre in the area of Kambo. Today it is serving the public as a traditional guest house, valued throughout, restaurant and cafeteria.

Hotel details

The Mavrokordatiko Hotel is located 7 kilometres from Chios town in Kambos, a traditional mansion built in 1736. It was renovated in 1995 in order to offer high quality accommodation services. It is situated in a historic area, where the main features are the impressive gates remain untouched by time. Please note that your reservation will be charged to your card 7 days prior to arrival.

Area information Beautiful beaches and coves are along every twist and turn of the rugged coastline. As with all volcanic islands, Chios has its share of mountainous area too and is great for walking and exploring. The medieval villages of the island are still lived in today and it is with great pride that the Chians keep their traditions, and their homes as they were centuries ago.
