Rooms

Most of the 72 rooms, a great part of them were former class rooms, have got a balcony or a terrace. Besides the standard facilities, all rooms are equipped with a very large bed (2,10 m), a Fax- and PC access as well as an adjustable air-conditioning. An outstanding piece of jewellery is what we call our bathrooms, here, as well, you will definitely feel fine. Large bath tubs, showers and washbasins of high quality are provided. You will find a dressing-gown and slip-on shoes in your hotel bath room. It goes without saying that the hotel offers non-smoking rooms and is equipped to cater for the needs of people with disabilities.

In the course of its history, the Romantik Hotel Altes Gymnasium has hosted personalities including the North Frisian novelist Theodor Storm. Look forward to the former school building’s historic ambience, tasteful Italian furniture, and English carpets and fabrics. The Altes Gymnasium also provides a unique setting for conferences and meetings.

The Romantikhotel Altes Gymnasium offers you a varied gastronomy. Dine in our restaurant Eucken awarded with a Michelin star, enjoy the ambiance in our winter garden with its regional cuisine or let the day die away at our hotel bar Karzer where you can enjoy fresh made cocktails.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled or modified up to 18:00 on the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled or modified later or in case of no-show, 80 percent of all nights will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

19 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is included. 

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 6 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged EUR 25.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
