Rooms

All rooms are spacious with large en suite facilities, with one twin room having a bath. The bed and furniture is of pine construction, while the mattresses are high quality pocket sprung for extra comfort. Each room has been individually decorated and enhanced with luxury soft furnishings. Double glazing and individually controlled radiator valves ensure that all rooms are warm and welcoming. All shower cubicles are larger than the standard size, with power showers fitted as standard.

A totally renovated Victorian residence is the basis of the luxurious accommodation offered at Applewood House. This, together with a very personal service from the owners, Barry and Lesley Knight, is intended to offer a most memorable stay. Applewood House has been awarded a Gold Accolade for the second successive year by VisitBritain, who described it as “the best of the best”. Applewood House has been sympathetically renovated, keeping the best features of its construction (large spacious rooms; original fireplaces), but adapted to meet modern requirements such as central heating, double glazing and a water system to ensure constant hot water for the showers, together with free Wi-Fi internet access. Breakfast can range from a quick snack prior to a full day’s work or a leisurely meal before the day’s sightseeing. Always an enjoyable experience, Applewood House offers everything from a full cooked English breakfast to cold meats and cheeses, with the food being freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients, wherever possible. Applewood House aims to provide a very high degree of comfort, including high quality bed linen, excellent towels, with furnishing of which the management are proud. The cleanliness and general structure is exceptional. As well as all this, the house meets the latest, most stringent fire and environmental health regulations. The house is also a non-smoking establishment throughout and all guests are required to respect this policy.

Food & Beverages

From a quick snack prior to a full days work or a leisurely meal before the days sightseeing, we will ensure that breakfast is an enjoyable experience, offering everything from a full English cooked breakfast to cold meats and cheeses, with the food being freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients, wherever possible. Freshly prepared fruit salad and cooked fruits are available, as are a variety of teas and coffees.

Wireless internet is available in the hotel rooms and is free of charge.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 3 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

VAT is included.  Service charge is included.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for cots.  All older children or adults are charged GBP 15.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
