Visitors appreciate the hotel is a historic site made of several mediaeval buildings based around a 12th-century castle, valued throughout, set between Gubbio and Perugia. The castle was the birthplace of Federico da Montefeltro, highly regarded, Duke of Urbino in the 15th century. The Petroia's 3 buildings, and above all, the Castellare Maggiore, Castellare Minore and Mastio preserve original architectural features. Some rooms also have a sofa-bed, very much appreciated, a jacuzzi, and sweeping views across the valley. The rooms feature antique furniture, valued throughout, exposed wood-beam ceilings and old prints or paintings from the 18th-century. The gardens feature a sun terrace with swimming pool. Visitors appreciate the hotel is also a large farm with typical white cattle.
