Berchtesgaden – Konigsee
Majestic in its aura and splendour, ringedby towering cliffs, the emerald Königseeresembles a fjord set in the Bavarian alps.The East Face of the Watzmann risesto nearly 1800 metres, while the lake itselfis 190 metres deep.
Eagle’s nest
Our route takes us past the Untersberg mountain, steeped in myth, and past picturesque rural villages to the Obersalzberg at 1,000 m above sea level. The road to the Eagle's Nest starts here. It is one of Europe's finest mountain roads and you can only travel along it on board a special bus.
Finally, a lift brings us to the restaurant at 1,834 m. The building was a present for Adolf Hitler on his 50th birthday. There is a splendid view of the mountains of Salzburg, Tyrol and Berchtesgaden from this historical location.

Our pension can be easily found if you leave the A10 motorway at the Salzburg-Sued exit (exit 8) and head in the direction of Groedig. Turn right at the second set of traffic lights and follow the "Hauptstrasse" (main street) for approximately 1 kilometer (0.6 miles). Opposite the "Raiffeisen" bank is the entrance to the Pension Sallerhof.

Our Guesthouse can be easily found if you take bus number 25 from Salzburg's railway station (Hauptbahnhof Salzburg - HBF Salzburg) to Groedig, and alight at the Post Office bus stop (approx. 35 min. journey- the price is Euro 1.8 per person) Than follow the "Marktstrasse" and the "Hauptstrasse" (main street) for approximately 250 meters (0.2 miles). Opposite the "Raiffeisen" bank is the entrance to the Guesthouse Pension Sallerhof. The price for one taxi from the railway station to Sallerhof is approx. Euro 15.-
