Clients appreciate the hotel is situated just 7km, which is 15 minutes, away from the centre of Funchal. Nestled in the hills to the east of Funchal. Many of the centenary trees in the gardens were planted in the early 19th century. The Casa Velha is in the heart of the 100 hectare Palheiro Estate, and above all, which is bordered by the Championship Palheiro Golf Course and the renowned Palheiro Gardens. The Palheiro Golf Course was chosen as “one of the 6 most stunning golf courses in the world” by Golf Monthly, valued throughout, in November 1999.

Casa Velha do Palheiro proudly received its first guests as a country house hotel in May 1997. This is a haven of peace for those who appreciate a privileged way of life. We take great pride in our cuisine. We have table d´hote and à la carte menus and a selected wine list. For lunch we suggest the Clubhouse restaurant at Palheiro Golf. Guests at the Casa Velha may enjoy a wide variety of menus presented by our award winning French chef who mixes traditional Portuguese dishes with culinary expertise, resulting in an à la Carte menu which has already been recognized in Madeira as one of the finest on the island.

All reservations have to be paid 7 days before day of arrival. Pets: Only dogs and cats are allowed up to 3kg with a charge of 20€ per night. Extra beds are only possible in the Junior suite- up to 2 beds.

Area information On the island, Casa Velha is the only hotel which is placed directly on a golf course. The Casa Velha is able to offer various favourable packages. Guests at Casa Velha do Palheiro have their own private entrance to these extensive, magnificent gardens which they can enjoy at no charge - Palheiro Gardens - that was awarded the prestigious Garden Trophy at the annual Relais & Chateaux World Awards ceremony in Monte Carlo in November. The trophy is based on the association’s values of excellence whilst paying tribute to the calm and beauty of the setting of the Palheiro gardens. Our private motor yacht "Balancal" is moored in Funchal marina. It is available for coastal cruises and swimming, dolphin and whale watching, as well as deep sea game fishing and special charters. Madeira is renowned for it's beautiful levada walks and breathtaking scenery. Casa Velha is also ideally situated if you would like to explore the island, and it is located as close to nature as one can get.
