The hotel is always delighted to provide guests with information and tips for making the most of Capri’s more famous beauty spots, as well as the island’s lesser known attractions; from Piazzetta Capri to Villa Jovis, from the Grotta Azzurra to Villa San Michele. There are many splendid nature walks such as along the “Pizzolungo”, from the “Arco Naturale” to the “Faraglioni”, the “Scala Fenicia”, from Marina Grande to Anacapri, up by Monte Solaro by chair-lift and down again passing through Cetrella, the “Passatiello”, the hunters’ short-cut through the mountains, from the “Faro” around the “Fortini” as far as the Grotta Azzurra.
Or take a boat tour in a typical Capri fishing boat so you can enjoy the magnificent azure sea, the tiny beaches, the little coves and the endless grottos, including: the “meravigliosa”, the “bianca”, the “verde”, our lady’s grotto, the grotto of the candles etc.
The hotel can help you hire a dinghy or a boat, organise water-skiing, diving and skiing, find you a scooter for hireand book a restaurant etc.
Capri can be reached:
from Naples:
- by ferry (crossing takes 80 minutes)
- by hovercraft (crossing takes 40 minutes)
from Sorrento:
- by ferry (crossing takes 40 minutes)
- by hovercaft (crossing takes 20 minutes, from Marina Piccola.
Ferries leave Naples from Molo Beverello or from the small port of Mergellina.
Crossings are more frequent from Molo Beverello and both ferries and hovercrafts depart from here.
From Naples airport to the port:
Upon request the hotel can organise chauffeur driven cars from the airport to the port (about 7 kilometres away). For further details see the page with transfer information. Alternatively guests can take a taxi which takes 25-30 minutes (Beverello or Mergellina). To avoid unpleasant surprises always make sure that you take an authorised taxi fitted with a price-meter.
Decidedly cheaper but nonetheless comfortable are the private CLP buses which depart approx every 30 minutes from outside the arrivals exit of terminal 1, and which go as far as Naples Central Station and Piazza Municipio (just 100 yards from the port). The journey takes approx. 40 minutes while tickets can be bought directly on board the bus. Those with a great deal of luggage could find the journey a little uncomfortable.
From Naples train station to the port:
There are three stations in Naples:
Napoli Centrale (where most of the long distance trains arrive), Mergellina and Campi Flegrei.
Napoli Centrale station is about 2 kilometres away from Molo Beverello which is best reached by taxi (which takes 10 minutes)
Mergellina station is about 300 yards from the port of the same name.
Campi Flegrei is at Fuorigrotta, on the northern outskirts of Naples. From here the most practical way to reach the ports is by taxi.
To the port of Naples by car:
Those arriving from the North should take the exit for Naples. Take the “tangenziale” and the exit for “Napoli” then, after approx. 15 kilometres take the exit for Fuorigrotta; from the south take the exit for Naples and follow directions for the port.
Remember that non-residents can only take their cars across to the island in low season, (roughly from November to the end of March), and only by ferry.Cars however on Capri are of little or no use.
Cars can be left in a number of secure and authorised car-parks in Naples. At Molo Beverello there is a fairly small outdoor car-park. If this should be full there is also the "Interscambio Autosilo Brin” car-park situated in Via Brin. Another alternative is the car-park in the Garage Chiatamone, located behind the Excelsio Hotel.
Those who decide to leave from Mergellina can use the car-park at the Mergellina Garage in Via G. Bruno, n. 112 or the San Nazaro Garage in Piazza San Nazaro, n. 142.
To the port of Sorrento by car:
On the Naples – Salerno motorway, from either north or south take the exit for Castellamare di Stabia and follow the directions for Sorrento. From Piazza Tasso in the centre of Sorrento take the road down to the port at Marina Piccola.
Remember that non-residents can only take their cars across to the island in low season, (roughly from November to the end of March), and only by ferry. Cars however on Capri are of little or no use.
Cars can be left in secure and authorised car-parks in Sorrento. Near the port is the Marina Piccola Garage.
From the port in Capri to the Relais Maresca Hotel:
The hotel is located just 50 yards away from the port, at the top of the steps situated 20 yards to the right of the cable-car entrance. Those with heavy or awkward luggage are strongly advised to make use of the porters at the port. They charge Eu 4.00 for each piece of luggage.
