Hotel in Mildenhall, Cambridge

 The Olde Bull Inn Hotel

The Olde Bull Inn HotelRecently purchased by a young and enthusiastic couple, very much appreciated, the hotel offers a warm and friendly personal welcome, as well as comfortable rooms that are complemented by diverse menus and a varied selection of real ales and fine wines. Possibly once visited by Queen Elizabeth I, valued throughout, this historic property is one of the few privately-owned and operated hotels in the area, with a charming blend of restaurants and bars. The couple have already transformed the Oakroom restaurant, highly regarded, where you can now dine amid Farrow and Ball painted walls, richly coloured Sanderson fabrics and ornate chocolate brown leather chairs. The owners, and above all, Cheryl and Wayne, are highly motivated to work their way through an extensive programme of redecoration and renovation. 2 km, which is 2 miles, from Mildenhall, very much appreciated, centrally located between Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Ely and Thetford. Customers appreciate the hotel is just 3.

Travel information

The Olde Bull Inn is situated 11 km (7 miles) north east of Newmarket, just as the main road from London to Norwich (A11) takes the curve, the highway passes the picturesque mill and over the river lark nestles the village of Barton Mills. By Car: From Cambridge: - Take the A14 eastbound for Newmarket and at junction 38 bear left onto the A11. - Keep on the A11 for approximately 6.5 km (4 miles). - Barton Mills is signposted off to the left just before Five Ways Roundabout. - Take the left to Barton Mills, turn immediately right, signposted The Street and the inn is on your left. From Norwich: - Take the A11 southbound towards London and as you approach Five Ways Roundabout (you will see a Travelodge, Little Chef and Esso garage) take the 2nd exit (A11) and keep in the right hand lane. - After 350 metres (400 yards), you will actually see The Olde Bull on your right. - You will see a sign for Barton Mills that tells you to turn right. You will cross the A11. - Turn immediately right, signposted The Street and the inn is on your left. The location of the inn, just 16 km (10 miles) from Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Ely, Thetford and Brandon and even closer to the major American bases of Mildenhall, Lakenheath and Feltwell; makes it the ideal venue for business and tourist visitors to the area.

Area information

Nearby places of interest include: Cambridge - The traditional university city boasting the magnificent King’s College Chapel, Fitzwilliam Museum and a wealth of splendid college buildings with well manicured grounds, many bordering the delightful River Cam, the area known as the 'backs' – you can see it all from a punt. Bury St Edmunds - With plenty to explore, whether you’re passionate about history or art, shopping or food, there is something for all to experience and enjoy. Here in AD 869 Edmund, King of East Anglia was beheaded by invading Danes and later a Benedictine abbey was built around Edmund’s shrine, the remains of which may be seen in the beautiful Abbey Gardens. You can also discover the Nutshell, Britain’s smallest pub! Newmarket - Newmarket proudly flies the flag of British racing, one of the most passionate sports in the world. With the 2 racecourses standing proudly on the end of the town, Newmarket is the greatest window that horse racing could ever hope to have. Along from the racecourse is the National Stud, home to many of the country’s finest horses. In the town itself is the National Horse Racing Museum, the Jockey Club and the famous Tattersalls (where racehorses are sold). Ely - An ancient cathedral city, made more famous by the residency of Oliver Cromwell. Soak up the atmosphere of Ely as you browse the gift shops, craft shops, antique shops and art galleries or simply sit by the river with a glass of wine and relax.
